Causes of Aging Skin

There is a wide range of anti-ageing products available in the market today. These products claim to reverse the signs of ageing and make the skin look younger. A large number of people also spend a great deal of money on these products in an attempt to achieve younger looking skin. However one can also prevent aging skin through natural methods. In order to prevent and treat aging skin problems, one must first understand the causes of ageing skin.

  • Exposure to the sun is one of the primary causes of premature ageing of the skin. Therefore it is important to take the necessary precautions to protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sun’s ultraviolet radiation. A sunscreen lotion helps to prevent damage from sun exposure. Your sunscreen should have a SPF or sun protection factor of at least 30. This is adequate in protecting the skin from the harmful sun rays. Sunscreen must be applied to the skin half an hour before going outdoors. It is also necessary to re-apply the sunscreen after a few hours.
  • Exercise is another great way to delay ageing skin problems. Regular exercise enhances the elasticity and firmness of the skin. The skin also appears glowing and radiant with daily exercise.
  • Another important step in delaying ageing skin problems is proper diet. A diet that is rich in nutrients helps to promote formation of healthy skin cells. Avoid consumption of excess fat and refrain from smoking and drinking caffeinated drinks.

  • Another beneficial anti-ageing home remedy is a mixture of rose water, lime juice and glycerin. This may be applied to the skin at night and washed off the following morning.
