Sunburn peeling is a common, but painful experience for anyone who has spent the entire day at the beach, or in the hot sun, without the use of a strong sunscreen. Unfortunately, sunburn peeling not only causes a lot of discomfort, it can also be very unsightly. It is quite difficult to stop sunburn peeling, as it is the body’s natural way of getting rid of the cells that have been damaged. However, there are some steps that could be taken to minimize the effects of skin peeling from sunburn.

Sunburn Peeling Treatment

Given below are some of the most common forms of sunburn peeling treatment that couuld be tried at home:

• Rub a generous quantity of Aloe Vera lotion on to the burnt skin, as soon as possible. This not only eases the discomfort caused, it also helps in keeping the skin moisturized. Well moisturized skin is less likely to peel.
• Use an ice pack directly on to the burned area. Ice has a great numbing effect, which soothes the area and reduces the pain. Another advantage of using ice is that it reduces the swelling that results from sunburns. This in turn reduces the stretching of the skin, which makes it peel less.
• Oatmeal baths have been used for years to reduce sunburn peels, as it is regarded as one of the most effective remedies. Take some unflavored oatmeal and grind it in a blender, to form a fine powder. Place the oatmeal powder in a piece of cloth or preferably an unused, white sock. Fill your bathtub with cool to lukewarm water and drop the oatmeal-filled sock in it. Allow the sock to soak in the bathtub for a few minutes. Then get into the tub and stay there for at least half an hour. Stand up and rinse the residual oatmeal from your body, using cold water. Do not rub your body vigorously with a towel; instead pat your body dry. In case the sunburn has caused the skin on your face to peel, you can make a face mask, using cooked oatmeal, an egg white and a drop of olive oil.
• There are several lotions that prevent the skin from going through a sunburn peel, even though they do not reduce the pain or any of the discomfort.

Drink a lot of water, to keep your skin well hydrated as dry skin tends to peel more. In case you notice blisters on your skin, it may be best to get in touch with a doctor and to know what painkillers and ointments can be used to deal with sunburn peeling skin.

Face Peel Masks

Fresh radiating skin is what everyone dreams of. Face peel masks are very beneficial in getting the desired result. A peel off mask makes your skin clean, smooth, removes all the dead cells and impurities on your face and makes your face glow. A face peel mask is applied on the face and neck like a paste. It is left on for about 20 minutes to dry off and is then peeled off. There are different face peel off masks for different skin types and each for a different reason such as brightening and illumination of skin tones, deep cleansing, hyper pigmentation and healing acne made scars.

There is a wide range of peel off masks available in the market. If you do not want to spend a lot of money on these, then prepare your own home made mask which would not cost you a lot. A face peel off mask is always made up of a lot of different ingredients. It is very important to know your skin type so you can choose the correct ingredient that suits your skin.

Peel Off Face Mask Recipe

The basic face peel off mask recipe is very simple. Once you have all the ingredients needed for the preparation, mix it all together and then add a little gelatin to it. Put the mixture in a heat resistant jar or bowl and heat it in the microwave. Once the gelatin has melted and mixed well with the other ingredients, stir it up and place this new mixture in the fridge for 20 minutes or so till it becomes thick. You can use this basic recipe to prepare a fruit peel off mask by making a puree or pulp of the fruit. Then strain off the liquid to a mask recipe.

A very good fruit peel mask that suits all skin types is an orange peel face mask. It is available in most supermarkets and pharmacies, this mask can be prepared at home as well. It helps brighten your skin, gets rid of a tan, balances the skin color and makes you look fresh and young. If you want to make your own orange peel off mask at home then the recipe is; take freshly peeled off orange peels and keep them in the sun to dry. After they are dry and hard grind them into powder. Now mix this powder either with water or milk in equal proportions and blend the mixture into a paste. While peeling the face mask off your skin care should be taken not to be very hard on the skin.

Boils on the Skin

Boils on the skin usually start off as tiny red nodules, which gradually grow bigger and then probably break down in the middle, where pus accumulates. They can appear on almost any part of the body. A person who is suffering from boils on the skin, often experiences itching and irritation. At times, boils, which are also known as “furuncles”, appear alone or there may be more than one boil, in a particular area. At times boils occur in different areas at the same time; they may also appear in the form of successive crops. When the boils ripen, they often emit a discharge. At times, fever and other problems may occur, because of skin boils. The main cause of skin boils is the staphylococcus germ, which enters the hair follicle or the sweat glands. While the main cause of boils is bacterial, there are several factors that can lead to the growth of the bacteria in the follicle. Another factor that may cause skin boils is the presence of a toxic condition in the bloodstream, due to a frenzied pace of life. Using home remedies for skin boils has become very common, as most people regard them as being safer and with fewer side effects.

Home Remedies for Skin Boils

Given below are some of the most common home remedies for skin boils:

• Onions and Garlic are very effective in treating boils. The juice of onion and garlic could be applied on the boils topically, in order to ripen them. For best results, mix equal parts of both onion, as well as garlic juice.
• Create a poultice using a teaspoon of milk cream, a teaspoon of vinegar and a pinch of powdered turmeric. Apply the poultice on the boil, to ripen it, without causing a septic infection.
• Steep some parsley in a dish of hot, boiled water, till it becomes juicy and soft. When the parsley is comfortably hot, wrap it in a linen or muslin cloth and apply it directly on the boil.
• Use a hot Epsom salt bath at least two or three times a week till the boil is persistent, to get rid of it. Once the boil disappears, use this remedy once a week, to prevent them from coming back.
• Rub a warm and moist compress over the tender area, around three or four times a day, to bring the boil to head, which can be easily drained.

In addition to using home remedies for skin boils, it is very important to follow a proper, healthy and balanced diet and get adequate amounts of exercise each day. Even though most people prefer treating skin boils at home, at times skin boils treatment may require professional intervention as the boil may need to be surgically removed. This is the case especially with larger boils.

If you have ever suffered from a severe case of sunburn, or if you have touched a hot pan or iron, you are probably aware of the intense pain and discomfort even mildly burnt skin can cause. On a medical scale, burns can be rated in three degrees. There are first degree, second degree and third degree burns. Burnt skin treatment methods vary, depending on the severity of the burn, as well as its cause. It is possible to treat first degree burns at home, as they are usually milder. However, in order to treat second and third degree burns, medical assistance is required, as blistering, peeling of the skin and large wounds cannot be treated at home. Therefore, before you try to treat burnt skin, it is important to understand the degree and the severity of the burn.

Home Remedies for Burnt Skin

Given below are some home remedies for burnt skin, of the first degree:

• Diluted vinegar is one of the best ways to treat burnt skin. Cover the area of the burn with a cloth that has been soaked in diluted vinegar. This is a great way to soothe the pain. In case the pain rises again, the compress needs to be changed for a fresh one.
• Lavender essential oil is good first aid for burns, as it is an effective antiseptic as well as a painkiller, which promotes rapid healing. It also reduces scarring in the effected area. If lavender is applied to the burn immediately, it will prevent scarring completely. If the burn covers a larger area, lavender oil should be applied to the burn, with a piece of gauze or cloth.
• The fresh sap found in a piece of a fleshy Aloe Vera leaf should be applied directly in the burnt skin, as it has tissue healing properties.
• Make a paste of cotton-ash, by burning a piece of a pure white cotton fabric. Mix the ash in some olive oil, to create a thick paste and apply it on the burned skin. Cover the skin with some cling wrap and leave it that way for a while. This should get rid of the pain in a few minutes. In case the pain returns, a fresh poultice may need to be used. This is one of the best ways to treat burnt skin.
• It is possible to treat sun burnt skin, by applying some cold milk on the area. Alternately, make a paste using oatmeal and purified water and apply it on the burn till it dries, before washing it off.

However, in case you do not see any relief in the pain, or if the burnt skin begins to hurt more than before, please seek professional medical assistance, without any further delay.

Dry Patches on Skin

Most of the times dry skin is a skin type but the there can be severe cases which can make your skin flaky and even make it crack and bleed. Though this is very rare and has to be treated with care. Dry patches on the skin are usually due to the kind of climate you live in. Dry arid climates could also make your skin dry and that is why winters can be hard on your skin. The harsh sun’s rays are equally responsible in damaging your skin and making dry patches visible. If your oil glands do not function well or are blocked it could prevent moisture reaching your skins and make it dry. Your diet also has a big effect on your skin, a vitamin rich diet will help to keep your skin healthy and nourished. Sometimes dry skin would appear as small itchy red blisters. This could also be a symptom of eczema, which would then result in patches of dry skin along the arms and legs and sometimes even the face. This is more common in the winters as this is the time when the skin becomes dry.

Treating Dry Skin Patches

These dry patches can be treated easily with a little care at home. The best way is to continuously moisturize the skin especially the affected area. Make sure that your skin retains the moisture and is soft and smooth all through the day. Each time you have a bath or take showers use lukewarm water instead of cold or hot water. Hot water is known to further dry your skin. Moreover use soaps that have moisturizers in them as soaps which are deodorant based have a high chemical content and dry up your skin. After your bath make sure that you do not rub yourself while toweling, it is better to pat it dry. Apply enough lotions, creams or body serums on your body till your skin is moist with it. Each time you go out wear a sunscreen with a SPF 15 or more so that it will protect you from the sun harmful UV rays which can cause dry patches on the skin.

A proper diet which is rich in vitamins and a sufficient daily intake of water can keep your sick hydrated and healthy. Medicated skin calamine lotions and antihistamines may be prescribed to soothe and control the itching. If these dry patches on your skin continue to persist with no relief then it is best to show a doctor at the earliest.

Wrinkles on Neck

Neck wrinkles are often the most neglected of skin concerns as compared to the rest of the face. Since the skin on the neck is much thinner than the rest of the face it tends to sag a lot more making obvious the neck wrinkles. One of the major causes of neck wrinkles is aging. As you get older the skin looses it youthful supple elastic state and support and appears as sagging bands around the neck. Another cause is losing weight at a sudden rate, since our body fat is distributed evenly, when you suddenly lose weight it does affect the neck region. The loss of fat abruptly makes it hang down making wrinkles on the neck. Improper care of your skin and over exposure to the sun are other reasons for neck wrinkles.

Prevent Neck Wrinkles

The best way to prevent neck wrinkles is to take better care of your skin especially around your neck.

Most of the time when we take anti ageing precautions, whether it is through toning or moisturizers we tend to neglect the neck region. Therefore it is better to give equal if not more attention to your neck when you do you face. Use a moisturizer on a regular basis on your neck as your neck needs it as much as any other part of your face.

Make sure you apply a strong sunscreen with a high SPF rate on your neck each time you go out so that the sun will not cause damage to your neck.

When you use an anti wrinkles cream for your face at night make sure that you apply it on your neck all round. You could also look for a rejuvenating skin cream specially designed for the neck, apply and leave it overnight.

Skin peel masks are also a good way to remove the dead skin and make the skin tighter and are good for neck wrinkles treatment. Therefore do not neglect your neck when you do a peel off on your face.

A proper diet with the required vitamins and lots of water intake will help to keep your skin looking fresh and healthy. Do not hang your head or keep your chin touching your chest because that could lead to permanent creases in your neck. In dire cases you could go for laser treatments or surgery but these should be done only in consultation with a professional dermatologist.

Heat Rash in Babies

Heat rash in babies often becomes a reason for concern for parents. Most babies at some point do break out in heat rashes and need to be taken care of without delay. Heat rash is mainly caused because of the baby’s body getting heated up. Sweating always cools the body down, but when you sweat too much the pores get blocked and prevent the sweat from coming out of the body. This in turn tends to heat up the body from inside and rashes are one way that the body retaliates to let out the heat inside the body. It becomes more prominent with babies as their skin is new and fragile. This heat rash manifests on the skin as small red blisters or bumps. They usually erupt in areas where the baby’s clothing is tight, as the pores in that area gets blocked first. While treating heat rash in babies we need to remember that humidity is the major cause of heat rash or prickly heat as it is also called. This is not an occurrence of the summers it can happen in the winters too if your baby is wearing too many layers of clothing. Though not painful it can cause a lot of itching and irritation for the little one.

Heat Rash Treatment

First and foremost heat rash treatment for babies is to keep your baby cool and dry in any kind of weather. During the summer make sure that you dress your baby in cotton. Loose and light clothes for your baby will help to absorb the extra sweat and keep him cool. Leave the air conditioning or the fan on so that the room in which your baby lies is cool throughout the day. To treat heat rash you could also bathe your baby in lukewarm water with two spoons of baking soda or use a frequent cold compress to cool him down. Do not rub him dry after the bath, just let him air dry and the water will slowly evaporate and cool the body down. Make sure you do not let your baby scratch himself, or else the rash could increase and lead to small open wounds. To soothe the itching you can use a medicinal calamine lotion on the areas that are affected by the rash. Avoid the use of baby creams and powders as they can block the pores further. Make sure your baby avoids the sun and instead stays in the cool room. At all times keep your doctor informed about the state of your baby’s heat rash.

Causes of Spider Veins

Medically, spider veins are known as ‘telangiectasia’ or a condition of broken capillaries caused by dilation of minute veins which lie beneath the skin. They normally look like a blue and red colored spider’s web which is how it gets the name ‘spider veins’. They are not very dangerous and do not cause any physical harm. Spider veins on a the face are primarily seen on the person’s cheeks and also on the nose. Spider veins are either caused by inherited or acquired factors. On the body, they are generally caused by puberty, trauma, pregnancy, a hormonal imbalance or chemotherapy among many other factors. Causes of Spider veins on the face, particularly on the cheeks or the nose is due to excess exposure to the sun, the cold or radiation or old age. Acne rosacea is also known to cause spider veins on the parts of the face that usually blush.

Treatment for Spider Veins on Face

There is more than one road to take with regards to treatment for spider veins on face. Treatments involving lasers or pulsed light are the most popular ways to get rid of spider veins on face. The abnormal veins are selected and destroyed by the heat emitted from the laser or the intense pulsed light. The recovery time from such treatments is minimal and results begin to show almost immediately. Electrodessication, a method where an electric current is used to cause the veins to swell, shut and shrivel away has also been seen to be a successful method in treating spider veins on the face. The above three treatments can be used for all types of skin. In general around 65% to 85% of the spider veins permanently fade away. Care must be taken to avoid the prevailing causes to steer clear of recurrences. With the right precautions side effects such as discoloration of the skin or even inflammation can be avoided.

Natural spider vein treatment would take longer to show results but is definitely a safer and more holistic method of treatment. Application of cider vinegar, vitamin e oil, rosemary oil or witch hazel tea on the affected areas is a good home remedy. A hot bath with Epsom salt twice a week has also shown good results. Consumption of 300ml carrot juice along with 200ml spinach juice is also beneficial to get rid of spider veins on face. Some yoga postures also temporarily drain the blood from the legs and reduce the pressure sustained by the veins.

Different types of people suffer from different types of allergies. Skin allergies are fairly common amongst the population. When the skin comes in contact with any substance that it is sensitive to (allergen), you may suffer from a skin allergy. Research has uncovered a number of common allergens such as nickel, gold, certain perfumes or fragrances, formaldehyde and many more. Before you can use the right skin allergy treatment you first need to learn to recognize skin allergy symptoms and find the root cause for your allergy. A patch test could be done to discover what you might be allergic to.

People suffering from skin allergies may experience redness, blisters, skin rashes and swelling, scaling of the skin and in rare extreme cases sudden immobility.
In most cases, it is the hands and arms that bear the brunt of the skin allergy.

Types of Skin Allergies

There are a few different types of skin allergies.
• Contact dermatitis. As the name suggests, when the skin comes in contact with an allergen, a rash may develop. This usually happens within 30 minutes of contact. The skin should not be scratched or covered with anything, as this may worsen the problem.
• Eczema is an advanced form of dermatitis which would cause blisters and scabs, and in certain severe cases pus flows from the skin.
• Hives. These are usually harmless and in the look like circular raised welts. They usually appear in batches on the skin and can become red and fairly itchy.

Treatment for Skin Allergy

How to treat skin allergy is an important question that must be answered. Antihistamine creams do help in relieving some of the symptoms and should be used at night as they work as a sedative. Antihistamine tablets are also good at blocking the immune system, thus preventing the allergy to begin with. But if you do suffer from a skin allergy there are a few home remedies that can become a part of your skin allergy treatment. Applying a paste made from Sandalwood and a few drops of lime juice onto the allergy site has been known to provide relief from itching. A mixture of coconut oil and lemon juice is also beneficial. Another treatment for skin allergy is drinking syrup made from 5 grams of garden mint, 12 grams of sugar and some water. Drinking a glass of water with 2 tablespoons of cider vinegar twice a day is another good natural remedy for skin allergies. Cosmetics on the skin should also be avoided.

Cystic Pimples

Harsher forms of acne are associated with greater complications and cystic pimples are the worst form of acne. Cystic pimples are different from the typical bumps and blemishes that are normally associated with skin problems or acne. They are much larger in size and more painful than normal. A cystic pimple can be as large as 5 mm or more in diameter. They are found on the skin and a more severe variety may appear as bumps under the skin’s surface. They are produced by the same processes that bring about superficial pimples, that is, excessive oil production. However, cystic pimples cannot be seen or easily reached. Just like normal pimples, a cystic pimple is a pocket of accumulated fluid. But cystic pimples are and can also caused by some sort of infection. Unlike other forms of acne, such as blackheads and whiteheads, cystic pimples never release their waste products. Squeezing or “popping” a cystic pimple would only multiply your problems by spreading the infection to surrounding tissues. Some people are more prone to cystic pimples than others. Most people who suffer from these pimples must be wondering how to get rid of cystic pimples.

Cystic pimples are usually linked to an unhealthy lifestyle. An unbalanced or fat rich diet with an insufficient intake of water can spell doom for your skin. Drinking plenty of water and including fresh fruits and leafy vegetables will go a long way in preventing abnormal oil production which could lead to cystic pimples.

Home Remedies for Cystic Pimples

There are a few home remedies for cystic pimples that you can use to ease the pain. You should wash your face with an oil free cleanser at least twice a day. Pat your face dry with a clean napkin each time and dab some oil free moisturizer onto your face. Applying toothpaste to the affected areas on your face before you go to bed is another form of cystic pimple treatment. The pimples should be much smaller in the morning. You could also reduce the cystic pimple swelling during the day by applying a paste made up of crushed up aspirin tablets and a few drops of water to your face. Once the paste has dried up, rinse it off with some warm water. If this does not work you can also try applying a gel consisting of 10% benzoyl peroxide. Although home remedies are great, in certain severe cases treating cystic pimples is best left to a good dermatologist.
