Dark Skin on the Neck
Dark skin on the neck is a common occurrence and many individuals experience this condition. This occurs, as we often neglect the neck while washing the other parts of our body. The skin care routines that are performed on the face are rarely done on the neck. As such the exfoliation of dead skins cells on the neck does not take place. Dirt and sweat accumulates on the neck region making it appear darker than the facial complexion. The neck has folds of skin in which remnants of cosmetics and other debris gets collected. Exposure to the sun can also cause darkening of the skin especially if we ignore the neck while applying sun screen. Excessive fat around the neck leading to a double chin also causes the skin to darken.
Home Remedies for Dark Neck Skin
It is important to maintain hygienic practices such as ensuring that you wash the neck thoroughly after coming home. Cleansers, moisturizers and toners that are applied to the face must also be applied to the skin on the neck. Remember to apply enough sunscreen on the neck before going out into the sun. You can also provide further protection to the neck by wearing shirts that have high collars. This will provide shade from the sun light. Exfoliate the neck region using a facial scrub. A natural scrub can be made by using a tomato and honey. Rub the skin with a slice of tomato and allow the juice to remain on the skin until it is gets soaked in. Then pour some honey on a loofah and scrub the darkened skin. Tomato works as a natural bleaching agent and will help to lighten the skin. The honey is effective in moisturizing and nourishing the skin. Due to this exfoliation process, the dead skin cells are removed from the surface of the skin, giving way to fresh soft skin underneath.
An excellent remedy for darkened skin is to make a paste of chick pea powder and lemon or orange juice. Add a bit of turmeric powder to the paste and apply it to the skin daily. Rose water may also be used instead of the lemon or orange juice if the skin is too sensitive. Leave the paste on for twenty minutes and then wash off with cool water after it dries. A scrub of crushed walnuts and yogurt also works well to remove dark patches from the skin. Potato also serves as a bleaching agent and raw potato juice or a paste of grated potato can be applied to the neck.
